Elancourt June 5th 2005
Attendance: 1 200
Weather: 20°C and Sunny

The first quarter saw a fast start from the visiting team with a long drive which was ended by Perez Mattison first interception of the day. The Templiers didn’t find the rhythm with the Swedish good defence doing a good job to stop them. Nevertheless the quarter finished with the score of 0-0.

In the second quarter the Swedish finally found the end zone on a 1 yard run by their running back N°41 to conclude a 9 plays and 48 yards drive. The extra point was no good. This touchdown woke the Templiers up as they answered immediately with a 6 plays and 70 yards drive concluded by a 27 yards pass from Perez Mattison to Arnaud Brethes. The 2 points conversion was caught by Yann Audrain. Then the hosting team went to the locker rooms with a thin 2 points advantage (Templiers 08-Crusaders 06).

In the third quarter the game changed as the Crusaders were beating themselves with losing 4 turnovers (3 fumbles and 1 interception) and gave the opportunity to the French team to increase their lead when Perez Mattison found Xavier Rano in the end zone. After the 2 points conversion the score is 16 to 6 for the Templiers.

In the 4th quarter the Crusaders tried to reduce the gap with a reverse but the French defence forced the 4th fumble of the day to give the ball back to its offence on the Crusaders 9 yards line. One play later Perez Mattison threw a touchdown pass to Xavier Rano for his second score of the day. The extra point was no good. Then the Crusaders, in a last chance drive, succeeded to move the chains deep in the Templiers territory but 3 incompleted passes ended the drive. With now less than 2 minutes to play the Templiers won another first down and then put the knee down to secure this historic victory for the team.

The Templiers will receive the Marburg Mercenaries Sunday 26th of June at 2:00 PM at the Guy Boniface Stadium in Elancourt.
