Amsterdam, May 29, 2007 – On a sunny Sunday afternoon in Amsterdam, Holland, the visiting Berlin Adler beat the hometown Crusaders 34-6. Adler quarterback Brett Hall picked apart the Amsterdam defense, completing 15 of 20 passes for 230 yards and a score. Hall was supported by a strong running game, spearheaded by Bjorn Dreier, who toted the rock for 58 yards and two touchdowns on a mere 8 carries.

With the win, Berlin qualified for the semi-final of the 2007 EFAF Cup. The Adler will take on Austria’s Hohenem Blue Devils, in an attempt to reach this year’s final.

The Adler offense came out flying high, with Hall connecting deep with receiver Sebastian Judis on the first snap >from scrimmage. Judis enjoyed a field day, hauling in 6 passes for 131 yards and a touchdown. He was complemented by another standout receiver, TE Tim Friedrich, who totalled 5 receptions for 57 yards and a brilliant touchdown grab.

After two Adler touchdowns, the Amsterdam offense arose, with Cru passer Joey Kraan connecting with NFL Europa prospect Claudio Bartolozzi for six points. The subsequent PAT was no good. Unfortunately for Amsterdam, that touchdown would remain their only score for the day. The Crusaders twice failed to convert excellent field position into points and entered halftime trailing 20-6.

After the break, the contest turned into a lopsided event, with the Crusaders suddenly becoming hapless after losing quarterback Kraan to injury. Amsterdam became unable to move the ball and turned the ball over two more times. For the day, Kraan and his back-up Marcus Muler threw four interceptions to the Adler secondary. Berlin wasted no time converting the turnovers into 14 points, with Hall throwing a picture perfect spiral to Friedrich and runningback Bjorn Warnstedt surprising the Amsterdam pass defense with a halfback pass to Judis. The Crusader defense, led by linebacker Adrian ‘Fubu’ Hidayat with six tackles, surrendered 34 points for the day and joined their offensive teammates in defeat.
